Beautiful, Sunny, Crisp...November 1st

Linking to Reality Shot Thursday with Claudia of Mockingbird Hill Cottage.

My reality is cleaning up the yard in preparation for winter - mulching, using my mulching/mower to chop up the millions of leaves ... I love gardening and this is a great part of preparation for spring planting. Living near the sea sure helps with the 'black gold' of rotted seaweed.

I always think of the past season and of tying up loose ends working on shutting the outside taps, putting garden and tools to bed. Working on bring some firewood close to the house for the snowy days ahead. I like to gather material for making compost always on the look out for free or near free ingredients. Living on the coast seaweed is one of the blessings, maple leaves another. In the past I have used spoiled hay, fruit, vegetables plants, grass clippings and always peat moss. At one time I was big on fish compost it was too expensive for my taste. For a number of years I have had Red Wrigglers for worm castings I feed them household compost, leaves and such....

  1. Boy, have you been busy.

Rob, I've nominated you for a Liebster Blog Award. Check on my last post. You don't have to do anything, but you can put the award on your blog if you like.

  3. Hi Rob! Thanks so much for joining in! I like your Reality Shots - I have much to do yet to put my garden away for the winter. And I so want to start a compost pile - that's on my list of things to do. Love your beautiful neck of the woods and how lucky you are to have seaweed available!

  4. Rob, joining you this week through RST, compost/mulch whatever you want to call it is the lifeblood of our gardens.
I blogged about our ugly compost heaps for RST a couple of weeks ago and had a great response, it is worth it's weight in gold.
