Travelling to Job Sites

Carpenters and scaffolders (and other trades as well) often leave their homes to travel to various work sites. I've done a lot of this over the past 30 + years. Sometimes there is a work camp with meals, laundry and a common room and internet access included along with a private or shared room. Other times a motel room with a 'meals and costs allowance' as part of the job package. Internet is part of the motel package along with a small fridge, microwave, a toaster and a coffee maker. It there is a kitchenette included it is pretty sparse on equipment.
To make my work time/off work time more comfortable I've put together a travel basket (and this one is a vintage treasure too. I like using and seeing vintage china so that is what I pack, along with my favourite frying pan, a good pot with lid, paring knife, saw edged knife and utensils, a few comforts from home. The plates in my basket were thrifted along the route last time I went to Prince George for work. The basket was a great garage sale find, the pottery was also garage sale.
I also pack the meal supplements and vitamins I take on a daily basis (Shaklee works for me) and I start the jobs with care packages prepared and frozen by my wife so the first several of days on the job I know I can shower, make a very fast and tasty (thawed and heated) meal and crash. The first week on a new job is always exhausting so I do my best to plan how I will deal it. Food tastes better off my own dishes.
