Awesome to have a fresh space...

My post today is about helping my Dad update a room in his condo. I use it when I am on the Coast but we are thinking toward the future so my thrifting was good prices on oops paint, doing the work myself and making my Dad happy.

I thrifted the bamboo blind ($2.00 this weekend) and I cut it to fit  the window. The oops paint was $5 a gallon. Big saving. Rug on floor was thrifted, 50 cents. New to me blanket on bed was a $5 at a flea market recently. Furniture was already blogged about in older posts. Found a couple of etching prints too for $1.00

This post continues from where I left off the other day. Putting the laminate floor in and adding the moulding strips took all day and it was so worth it.

Paint stir sticks make great spacers.Paint sticks were free, good deal.

Took a break (sunshine, flowers to check out, fresh air).

Back to work.
Styrofoam to keep the heat in (I will cover it another day with some fabric), or perhaps hang a piece of art work on the inside  and put something like wallpaper on the outside (I'll have to think about that).
Making progress.
Room is looking totally different.
A good sleep tonight (I had to revamp the bed, the bedposts got in the way in this small space although I liked the 'look'), and I added a new to me thifted bamboo blind. The garage that backs on my room has a freezer running against the dividing wall so I decided move my head to the other end of the bed so I don't hear the constant buzzing noise so loudly through the wall), anything to help me get a better nights rest.
Rearranged desk, liking it. Thrifted bed blanket. Thrifted rug on floor.
A small room but much more restful on the eyes, and removing the carpet is going to make it easier to keep dust out of the room, and it is an update for Dad's condo.
My Rooster shelf coat hook going to brighten it up soon. The rooster coat hooks were thrifted for $3.00, a heck of a deal.
More to come another day when the entire room is settled down
and the rest of the furniture is back in place.

  4. Good mix of fixed up, repainted, thrifted stuff and work. Like seeing where you are using the thrifted stuff. Good idea on the bamboo blind, makes the room look bigger. Nothing like a bunch of thrifted finds to make a room look homey.

  5. Love the new floor. I'm amazed at how much you were able to find thrifting. Got any tips?

  6. Nice job Rob ... amazing ... thanks goodness for thrifted goods. Almost everything in our house is pre-owned and I love it that way. The floor looks great. Bet it makes you feel so good to help make your Dad happy.
